What Does the School Counselor Do?

• Follows the ASCA Model for a data driven comprehensive developmental counseling program
• Individual counseling
• Small group counseling
• Classroom lessons based on grade level competencies
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators and parents to remove barriers for academic success
• Monitor attendance/implement incentive plans for students with chronic attendance issues
• Refer and consult with outside agencies
• Encourage the academic, personal/social, and career aspect of each individual child
